So, we usually open by saying we are different. And that is not like in a “we are just like every other company but want to feel special” kind of way. At Swedish Smokeless, you jump straight into the rabbit whole and probably meet the mad hatter on your first day.
It is loud, fast and noisy. And if you don’t like the smells of raw tobacco, peppermint, citrus, and all the other aromas that jump your senses the first time you stroll through the factory, you will probably find it a bit intimidating. But in this highly automated environment full of machines and robots, it is our people that create the magic.
Our people come from all over the world, maybe fresh out of school or having done something else most of their lives. On the factory floor, we speak 27 different languages and Swedish is just one. We have people with PhDs from reputable schools and those who instead got out of school as fast as they could. We look for clever, reliable people who can play nice with other people – because your team will depend on you.
As a factory, we have positions of all sorts. Quality control, project management, machine operators, technicians, warehouse staff, IT people, logistics, finance, HR and what not. And a surprising number (something we say since we don’t know how many) of our staff started as something else and later moved on to new responsibilities. But that is up to you – no pressure.
We are a family and as in all families, things can get complicated. We come from a wild and crazy background and strive towards a smooth and professional state. Being multicultural is something of a buzzword for most, but for us it is the wonderful and challenging reality we live in. So, the first thing we learn is respect towards each other. We have a collective agreement “kollektivavtal” so everybody is treated fairly and are insured properly. Of course.
