For travelers passing through some of the largest airports in the world, the nicotine pouches from Swedish Smokeless are well-recognized. For four years in a row, Doha Airport has been recognized as the best duty-free shopping area in the world. And in the Doha Duty-free area, Swedish Smokeless’ booth has consistently been ranked #1.
“The steadily increasing sales has been ensured through a wide variety of high quality products. Currently, our company’s products are represented in over 80 countries worldwide. But I am especially proud of the amazing success we have enjoyed through my channels,” says Gevorg Avanesyan, Head of Travel Trade at Swedish Smokeless Solutions AB.
Dedication to the customers

Apart from all the stores and outlets, Swedish Smokeless is established in duty-free trade zones in approximately two dozen countries. According to Avanesyan, representation in duty-free trade zones is of primary importance to the company. Therefore, Swedish Smokeless pulls out all the stops to produce excellent results in various corners of the world.
Expanding to new markets
“Soon, our products will be sold in markets worth several hundreds of millions in Italy and Spain, where consumers are already familiar with our products. Also, successful cooperation has begun in the duty-free trade zones of airports in Zurich, Basel, Sharjah, and Kuwait through the company Avolta, which is part of the ‘Du Free’ network. And we are already represented in duty-free zones of Oman and Bahrain, facilitated by another major duty-free trade network, Air Rianta, which covers markets in the Middle East, Canada, Ireland, and Barcelona.”
In December 2023, the company took the first position of Bahrain airport’s total revenue in terms of sales volumes in the duty-free trade tobacco category. This is even though the company had only been represented in Bahrain for less than 18 months. Still, Gevorg Avanesyan is not the kind of man who just sits down and enjoys the fruits of his and his team’s labour:
“We are of course proud of what we have achieved. But it does not do to just dwell on our achievements in attracting new interesting markets. Instead, we keep looking into new geographic regions and channels we can expand to. Being closer to our consumers and ensuring accessibility is our modus operandi, the Swedish Smokeless’ primary principle and part of our work ethics”
