As creative original products and designs gain momentum, soon the copycats arrive on the scene. But whilst it is flattering that other companies try to analyze products such as our White Fox nicotine pouches and make their own copies, this is both illegal and potentially dangerous.
On the website Geekvaping, there is a video of two Swedish guys trying out White Fox. They say that it is our distribution company Gajane which manufactures the product, which isn’t true but close enough. However, if you decide to buy our products from Geekvaping, you get fake products manufactured by “Shenzhen Factory” in China. At sites like Nicofactory in Shenzhen, they manufacture copies of Velo, Zyn, White Fox – completely openly. There is no regard to intellectual property rights and the work that goes into developing these products.
These pirating companies buy for example a few cans of White Fox and try to identify their content. But it is very difficult to determine for example the different components of the taste which is created by mixing a number of different high-quality essences. The White Fox cans’ look (created by Arthur Geo and his design team in Yerevan) can be copied down to every little detail, But our master blender David and other people at our factory in Enköping create tastes that cannot.
Why is this a problem for the consumers? Snus and nicotine pouches are considered food by authorities around the world. The Swedish Smokeless factory is designed and run exactly according to specifications decided by Livsmedelsverket, the Swedish Food Agency. This means strict rules for anything from ingredients and methods used. We need to comply to rules around heat and moisture, smells and ventilation, workers’ safety and much more. When you buy an illegal copy from Shenzhen, you have no idea what goes into the cans or under which conditions they are made.
You might think that the worst thing that could happen is being disappointed with the product, like when shopping from Temu or Shein. You would unfortunately be wrong. The way that nicotine pouches and traditional tobacco snus works is that you put it under the upper lip. The nicotine is then absorbed directly into the blood stream without going through the digestive system.
Your Shenzhen-manufactured copies may have chemicals and toxins which are unsuitable for this mode of absorption. This could make you seriously ill and worse. Apart from only using the highest quality, approved substances in our products, we also monitor the manufacturing environment and analyze the finished products to make sure there are no bacteria and viruses.
The copying industry is gigantic and as with organized crime, if you cut one head off, another will grow. The pharmaceutical industry has been fighting this battle for decades. They have advanced drugs that has taken years and billions to develop copied and sold fairly openly.
